Today we’re launching Superscenic, an iPhone app that makes it easy to transform any room, place, or object into a photorealistic 3D model. With Superscenic, capture typically takes just seconds, processing happens seamlessly in the cloud, and the resulting scenes can be shared and explored with ease on any device.
Superscenic is available now on the App Store.
Designed for photorealism
One of our goals in building Superscenic was to achieve a high level of realism. To deliver this, we’ve built on top of a carefully tuned 3D Gaussian splatting pipeline, adding a number of enhancements, including:
- Exposure normalization: to ensure a consistent appearance even across large lighting variations.
- Depth and normal priors: to generate geometry that is consistent and matches the real world.
- Trained skyboxes: to create an accurate and beautiful sky model that sits behind the content.
- Generated collision meshes: to support navigation, exploration, and video generation.
Together, these allow us to produce a model of the world that looks and feels like the real thing. View the video above or try a scene to see for yourself.
Great captures, every time
We also wanted to make the capture process hassle-free. Simply move through the scene as though you were taking a video. Our automatic frame selector will capture images that are sharp and provide good coverage for reconstruction. Use the expandable minimap to check coverage and find areas you may have missed.
Objects can be captured in just a few seconds; larger spaces might take a minute or two. When you’re done, press Upload, and we’ll take it from there, processing the scene on our GPUs in the cloud. We’ll let you know when processing is complete (this typically takes a few minutes).
Sharing is built in
Share fully interactive scenes with a private link — or publish your scenes to share them with the world. Scenes can be explored and navigated in 3D in any modern browser on practically any device. You can also create dynamic videos for sharing on platforms where video is a more natural fit.
Take your scenes with you
Over the past few years, native 3D Gaussian splatting support has made its way into a wide variety of software including game engines, 3D renderers, visual effects tools, architectural design packages, and web frameworks.
You can bring the scenes you’ve created with Superscenic into all of these by exporting them to the widely supported .spz and .ply formats. Import these files into your workflow or drop them into any splat viewer.
The road ahead
We’re excited to share our progress with you today, but we’re just getting started. We have many features and improvements on our roadmap, including faster capture, higher-quality reconstruction, better ways to explore and share your captures, and tools that will make your scenes more useful across a variety of applications.
We’d love to hear what features and improvements matter most to you. Please email us at hi@superscenic.app. We look forward to seeing what you create!
You can download Superscenic for free. We provide a quota of free processing credits every month to all users. Additional credits are available via subscription.
